Diving under the ice, a wonderful experience.
Do you like extreme, unusual or challenging diving experiences? Then you must dive under the ice! The underwater world is fascinating. Ice diving is one of the most adventurous experiences you can have. Experience playing with your exhaled bubbles at the bottom of the ice. Just for fun, casually mention in a conversation with other divers that you are IDD Ice Diver certified and you are instantly the center of the conversation. Everyone wants to know what it is like. Cool right! Ice diving is great, it expands your diving possibilities. But you have to be aware of the different environment and the safety precautions you need to take.
What we are going to do
In ice diving cooperation is crucial. The first thing we pay attention to are the roles and responsibilities of the support staff, the carers and the safety divers.
Another important section we'll cover is information on the various types of ice, choosing a dive site, preparation and the effects of cold on equipment. We discuss emergency procedures.
During the guided dives we will discuss:
- The use of safety lines
- Specialized ice diving equipment
- Hand signals and other forms of communication
- Techniques for the use of securing lines
- Dealing with problems and procedures as a safety diver
What you need
Besides the basic diving equipment you will need a dry suit.
- Minimum age 14 years
- Advanced Diver
- At least 10 free dives
You will know exactly what to do under the ice and especially how to prepare yourself. You will receive the worldwide recognized IDD Ice Dive certification after successful completion of the course.
